With my srx approaching 11 years old I've been eyeing up a new go fast toy. I don't think it will be a yamaha. They seem to have just lost their passion, or at the very least do not seem to inspire it. Sure they have some of the most technologically advanced sleds out there but they seem to lack soul. Is our just me? Compared to companies like arctic car and polaris yamaha seems very uninterested inn the snowmobile market. Maybe It is all a lack of marketing. Anyway thats my rant.

I think Yamaha is last place with sales..#1 sales is BRP.They really don't need the sled division.Even though it isn't the same division..Yamaha makes a way lot more $$ on Pianos. With the price of fuel and increasing cost on everything..owning a sled new today is gonna cost Big dollars..way out of reach for most, and with the tough economic times..not a necessity in life for a lot of people..

I was trying to search for snowmobile sales for all brands in the world..can't find anything.I myself still love the 2 stroke motor, love the smoke and love the triple pipe sound. Will keep my sleds forever..it is all I need. Can't see spending any money on a brand new sled even..I would like to find a used 4 wheel drive truck way before that...for about the same price..I can see your point I guess about the passion. While other manufacturers are making and adding so many changes..Yamaha just added PS and made their sled even heavier....Why don't they have a factory Turbo sled for retail..but then if it existed..hate to see the price on that..
Love Yamaha(older sleds)the SRX proves itself over and over still 11 years later...I am not into new tech I guess..love old tech...crap I don't even have a cell phone or iphone..don't need it.
Whatever choice you make I am sure you have investigated and made your choice..fine..as long as you can still sled..enjoy the outdoors.Same as with car/truck sales..the company that is more innovative usually gets more customers..it is all about advertising and showboating I guess.More bells and whistles here..so come on down!!!!I think we are all get lazier..who needs PS in a sled and who needs a car that can park itself??? Where is it all going to end..not going there...

YAMAHA HAS PASSION. AS A WHOLE, THEY CAN BLOW THE OTHER TWO COMPANIES AWAY WITH BRP BEING CLOSE SECOND. IF YOU FOLLOW YAMAHA THEIR SNOWMOBILE DIVISION IS PART OF THEIR '' RECREATIONAL VEHICLE SALES. SO NOW YOUR HAVE DIRTBIKE, JETSKI, ATV, SNOWMOBILE. ALSO WORLD WIDE LEADING MARINE ,ROAD BIKES AND INSTRUMENT DIVISION. ANOTHER WORDS, YAMAHA BIG. REAL BIG. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Big doesn't equal passion. While other divisions may display passion in their products my concern is in the snowmobile products. In fact it's often the smaller guys in business who have the most passion with their products. It may just be that yamaha is so big and interests are so broad that they seem to lake passion in certain markets. Really it comes down to marketing and company perception. Yamaha makes a solid product, always have, sometimes they manage to produce something that stirs some serious Passion, but it is rare. Models like the old phaser, srx and even exciter where a few. I can't say the same for the current model lineup. Especially compared to the Polaris or arctic cat guys. They seem to love what they do and it shows in models lined on the showroom floor.

All this is of course just ny opinion, but I think it is shared by more then a few.

Big $$$$ or not, they don't bring us the sleds we want, so we'll spend our $$$ somewhere else!

Really Norwegian, Think Yamaha Cares ? Wright Them. Let Me Know Their Answer To Ya. They Think They Have A Line-up Of Sleds For 2012 Thats Not Only Technology Advanced But Leading The Industry. Go Get Yourself A Cat. 3:16 (yammie Tony)

I am gonna play devils advocate here. I do believe in one person making a difference. I DO believe that Norwegian could make his contribution to Yamaha's surveys and tell them what he likes. Every "vote" counts. If manufacturers didnt care, they'd all lose their @$$es. I do agree with Tony as well though. I believe both of you make a good point. I think Yammie is evolving a tad slower than the rest of the manufacturers (to certain extents) and is focusing on breaking new ground with new technology, granted that is not necessarily what WE as the Yamaha faithful would like to see in the new models, but what is working to bring newer folks into the sport. I would definitely say though that eventually the "newbie" riders could potentially eventually gravitate towards other brands, especially the "I-gotta-have-a-snowcross-sled-with-a-180+horse-to-stand-at-all-times-to-go-90-plus-down-a-trail-for-no-reason" goons. As far as I am concerned, let that trend go to the wayside. There will be something else hot and new to get worked up about. We are in the technological age, and I for one have always considered MYSELF a PASSIONATE person who knows what I want and expect of my sled. Yamaha breaks ground, then sticks with what works in the meantime until they come up with something else. If I need to be one of those snowcross-wannabe-goons, Ill buy a Ski-Don't, if I wanna be a tool and brag about how sweet my F7 is because of its 25 in. bar riser, I'll get a Cat, and if I refuse to purchase a Japanese product, Ill buy a Polaris. In the meantime, I'll stick with my passion that Yamaha has instilled in me, knowing what I demand; reliability second to none, uniqueness, and ease of maintenance. My PASSION, MY YAMAHA.

well said my man..well said....but a Polar Dog.Our Government announced here a while back that they want to get special snowmobiles built for up in the Artic area.It would be for defense against Russia or any other country that wants to invade us from the North. They want it to be a combination of gas and electric.Gas to get some speed and electric for when you get close to the invaders..you can switch it to electric for silence...COOL! I wander who would get the contract for that..probably BRP because they are in Quebec,|Canada..Should be something interesting here..doubt if Yamaha would want to go the hybrid way with there sleds..BUT it would be cool not spending a bundle of fuel when fuel hits that $10 a gallon they are taling about one day.Hey new technology,,the first company to do that will get a lot of sales just in the Defense Department alone..go figure..

Right
;)! LOL

Yamaha snowmobiles are designed and built in Japan, once they establish the product they have the sales and marketing sell it... its opposite thinking as the others.

The US goes and finds the product that meets the demands and then the engineers build that product and then its taken to market... thats the problem... different thinking...is it right???... who knows.

I like what Tony said... if you dont like it, go buy a cat!! ;)!

yamah has passion ...to not let the customer down QUALITY .RELIABLEABILITY....i want to ride ...not wrench ...i am not sayin my sled has never broke.but what other sled can you blow the motor in half and still run ..i have owned a cat and a doo and i killed them both when u are riding and see a guy broke down whats he riding ?.. it just kills me to be riding and see a guy on a sled thats olny a year or two old broke down ...8000 dollars for a new sled and it breaks before it hits a thousand miles or two ....i am sure yamaha is working on a new rocket for the sled world ...yamaha is all about power and speed along with quality ..look at the car companys that come to yamaha for engine developement ..just to name 2 is ford sho ..and audi ....you dont see ski doo or artic cat developing engines for major car companies ....think if i ever opened my hood and seen brp or artic cat on my engine i would be sure not to go to far from home ...

I JUST DON,T BELIEVE SOMEBODY CAN START A POST LIKE THIS. A COMPANY THAT HAS MADE SNOWMOBILES FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND WITH RELIABILITY, HIGH PERFORMANCE, BEST QUALITY ON TWO SKI,S. SNOWMOBILES THAT ARE STILL ON THE TRAIL TODAY, OR STILL WINNING AT THE GRASS DRAGS, ICE DRAGS, TAR OR HILL DRAGS. LAST WINTER HERE N.Y. I SEE A FAMILY OUT SNOWMOBILING, FATHER WAS ON A 1980 EXCITER, KIDS WERE ON A TWO 1980 300 ENTICERS AND THE MOTHER WAS ON A 84 PHAZER. I REST MY CASE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Right on !! I tell you what they need to ride one of the new 4 strokes and the "no passion" idea will be removed from there minds. I will even go one step further, come to a TV ride and you can ride one of mine ;)!

I think the problem for most people today is that the price of a new yamaha performance sled is too far out there. I personally can't see myself hauling a $14,000 sled in a $1,500 trailer, behind a $12,000 dollar truck. If I could ( but i can't), get a new sled today, I think I would b looking at a Rush 800R. I love the comfort of a stand up sled, like the Nytro, but that sled needs a $4,000 supercharger to make it fun.

Lets not be too hard on someone who is trying to convey his desire for Yamaha to build a sled thats excites the "soul" of a SRX minded sledder. I, and many others are still riding our VMAX4s, SRXs ect because we are waiting for Yamaha to build something, like an SRX, that we just 'HAVE TO OWN"! 600lbs+++ sleds are just not cutting it for a lot of us.
I currently am riding + loving my 144", long traveled, 150hp, lightened to under 500lb 2002 SRX. But...if I had to replace this sled tomoro, Yamaha builds nothing I would replace it with...thats the long + short of it!

FOR A EVERYDAY SNOWMOBILE I MEAN ON SNOW, THE APPEX WILL BLOW ANY SRX OFF THE TRAIL. NOW I AM NOT TALKING GRASS DRAGS, ICE DRAGS, OR WHATEVER. THE SRX WAS BUILT TO GRASS DRAG. THATS WHERE IT SHINED. IT WAS TERRIBLE OVER BUMPS, HATED DEEP SNOW, AND UNLESS YOU RODE ON A TRAIL LIKE THE 4 WAY HIGHWAY, PARK IT. ALL YOU GUYS THAT CRY '' BRING BACK THE SRX '' WERE THE SAME GROUP THAT USE TO POST ON HERE FROM 1998 TO 2002 WHY YAMAHA WILL NOT MAKE A SRX 800. give me a break. 3:16 (yammie tony)
