Yamaha.... No passion

it is like going from a drag sled to a luxury sled.It is the outdoors..who needs the luxury..give us something that will roar. There will be alot of guys buying older sleds..because lets face it..who can afford a $20,000 Apex(taxs included)This is Canadian price. The Apex is around $17,00 closer to $18,000 here..now add tax and insurance..YIKES!!!I have 2 awesome sleds that Yamaha ever built..an SXR and an SRX..what more would you need anyways...

if anything,I would like to find an older Yamaha sled.I loved my 78 Exciter 440..bullet proof also. You name it..I did it on that sled and never ever did anything to it..no carb cleaning, maybe I greased it once or twice..that was it.Put on 5000 miles(hard miles)and lots of driveway jumping ..only reason I traded it in was for the 81 SRX 440....If I could find an earlier SRX 440 in great shape..I will buy it at once.

2002 SRX BRAND NEW WAS OVER $8000. 1992 VMAX 4 WAS $9200. 1983 VMAX 540 WAS $4400. A 1979 SRX WAS $2350. YAMAHA NEVER BEEN AFRIAD TO CHARGE YA FOR THE BEST SLEDS ON THE SNOW. 3:16 (yammie tony)

The Apex for me was the most expensive sled to maintain for me. Im either taking a year off or going back to a viper or a srx.
I cant see paying $15,000 for a new sled or financing it for 8 years .
Id like to see a bit of a throw back to the srx days, im not a off trail rider nor do i care for the very exaggerated rider foward machines of today.
Second hand machines that i would look at $2500 to $5000 range would be a 2005 + mach z love the ride but wouldnt trust the engine or a f7 or crossfire but again not sure if the diamond drive would get me home at the end of the day. Engine wise YAMAHA RULES !

my 81 SRX was $4000 and I thought that was crazy already for price..but I was single and had good paying job and money just sitting around..so went for it..Got my 2002 SRX for $3700 but had to put money into it of course. And my 2001 SXR pu for $4000 and put money into it also.So I spent way less money on 2 sleds so far then buying an Apex here for $17,000.

Ive been there too Blue. I bought my 00 SXR in the middle of a snowstorm in 2006 for $4000. I dumped countless amounts of dough into it. (Including a $450+ dollar reverse kit) It still wasnt complete. I was in the same boat with vehicles though as well. I will tell you what, I used to just get by with "clean" used vehicles and my "clean" used motorcycles. My last car, a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi with 67k on the clock. I owned that car for no less than four months and it seemed that for every good service I did on it, it cost me $400-$1000 bucks within the next couple months: trans pressure solenoids, then digital climate control, then DIC, then this, then that, blah blah blah. I then got sick of puking my money into my vehicles that I needed to count on for operating costs. This year I bought a new 2011 Escape. Best move ever. I dont have to worry about fixing something every other month. Also purchased a maintenance plan. Sucker will pay for itself 3 fold within the life of my payments that I owe on the vehicle. To me, pay to play. Same goes for my sleds. All my AC buddies think that they should be able to spend 1500 and less on a full featured sled with 150+ horsepower with all convenience features and not have to put any more money into it and have 0 problems. Horse poop. I spent the 4K on my SXR and rode it for 4 trouble free seasons. My roommate pissed away countless hours and dollars and held up the group with his "good buy sno pro" sled. I'd say "Cats... POS" his response... "I paid less than you for that pile of $h!t that you're riding!" Then I'd say, "At least it starts..."

PAY TO PLAY...

AND TONY--- PREACH ON BROTHER!!! ;)!

First off I am a HUGE Yamaha fan. I own 3 Yamaha sleds and I race motocross on a YZ250. But....If Yamaha is building "The ultimate sled" why are they last in sales? Your opinions mean nothing. Bottom line, the other 3 brands are building sleds that the population wants. Maybe Yamaha is satisfied with that..I am not.

LIKE I POSTED ABOVE, LOOK AT WHERE YAMAHA STANDS IN THEIR RECREATIONAL DIVISION SALES. SNOWMOBILES, JETSKIS, ATVS, ROADBIKES, DIRTBIKES, etc. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Also price is a huge factor !
Apex at $18,000 canadian vs. lets say a polaris Rush 800 for $14,900 ! Also i would never buy a sled in the fall once the end of december comes around you can see new sled prices fall by $1000 to $4000 !
Here In Quebec ive seen a huge increase of yamaha sleds on the trails. Guys here like to ride 2000 to 5000 miles a year in some cases.
The only reason some are not going to buy new yamaha sled is price but also BRP has come a long way .

and the equivalent dollar for a Vmax 4 in 2010 would be $14300... now add 2 more years and the price is not that far off the Apex!!

Justifying the cost increase of a toy by weighing it against the economy ONLY allows the people with, 1-a huge desire to ride, 2- has enough disposable income where the inflation does not effect them to ride or 3- finance to ride. Just because someone tells me" They are the same price adjusted for inflation" doesn’t mean much to me. All I have to do is look in my checkbook and get a dose of reality. I would consider myself very well off financially and I can’t see the value. More power to the people that can justify a new sled. Our sport is dying off and its not because people don’t want to ride. Its because they cant.

ITS ALMOST LIKE FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAYING THEIR F-150 IS THE BEST SELLING TRUCK IN AMERICA. WELL RELATE IT TO YAMAHA BEING 4 IN SNOWMOBILE SALES. IF GENERAL MOTORS COMBINED GMC AND CHEVROLET TRUCK DIVISION, NOBODY BE CLOSE IN SALES. MY POINT IS WHEN YA HAVE A COMPANIES AS LARGE AS GM AND YAMAHA, YOU CAN,T SAY WELL THEIR LAST SELLING SLEDS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I found a left over 2011 rush 800R for $8,500. If i could, that's the route i'd go. May kick myself in the *** later, but it's not like Yamaha is trouble free either. They all have their issues. My problem is with any new sled, when it breaks & u take it to the dealer for warranty repair, there it sits, while all the snow is melting or something. At least with my old srx, pretty much anything that breaks, I can have fixed by the next day. Thanks to this site!

Some will only dream and some will only complain about owning and the cost of the top of the line apex ! List and sticker prices do vary. Why has nobody run down a nytro?

If i was going to buy a new sled that would last over ten years and be able to jump on it and ride it anywere i wanted with the reliability and nice ride that the apex delivers i wont complain about the top of the line price or the added features like gobs of low end power or being able to hold it to the bar all day with respecable top speed.

.

here's another thing to think about with the "sales numbers". I think these so called sales numbers are units shipped from the factory. that doesn't mean it sold. I know my local Yamaha dealer only has a few holdovers, and he's not a small dealer either. but I can find holdovers as far back as 08 from the other brands just looking through the dealer ads in my area. just because the factory crams inventory down their dealers throats doesn't make their sales high. off my soapbox now

Just cuz the truth doesn't mean anything to you doesn't change it. Doesn't matter if you like it or not. Truth is reality. Reality is easy if you embrace it.

Sport dying off?????????????????? You outta go outside in the winter after it snows. There are more sleds registered to day than ever and when it snows they are out!!!! Vintage is HUGE!!!!!!!!! The trail systems today are unbelievabe when compared to days gone by. People are more into sleds now than ever. New sales may be down now do to the economy and some are not travling as much for the same reasons but that has nothing to do with the sport or human desires.

Tony said it when it comes to Yamaha. They are the biggest deal (company wise) in the industry. They will make what sells, in amounts that will sell anually and develope what is truly an improvement to the machine.

Making tin cans with big engines is easy. Yamaha does what others say won't work. The others always eat crow and follow suit. It's proven by history. More truth....

Lack of passion is a rediculess notion given by those who stomp their feet when the can't have what they want.

Don't like Yammie??????? Get out of the sport or go buy a DooPolCat.

You'll have a lot more to complain about then so you will feel even better about your opinions.
