On my SXR600 I have 1 front exchanger protector that has to be riveted back on.Now the old rivets are still in their holes on the bottom..tried to punch them back but it seems like something solid behind them.If I drill them thru..will I actually hit the exchanger and spring a leak.I need them out to get new ones into place.Anyone have a front exchanger out for me to see what I am dealing with?>> Thanks

well I see the other exchanger was just barely hanging on also..so I removed it.And the flat base of each exchanger is cracked where it pertrudes out..so I guess I won't be putting front exchanger protectors back on and or try and drill thru the old rivets.Even the top rivet holes are huge,my 3/16 rivets will be to small to put there.I could always JB weld them into place, but I won't be running a studded track..so who needs them..end of story.. :horsehock :Bore: guess I'll just go have a nap now, don't feel like doing anything on sleds today. :o|

the heads were off, that is why the one exchanger fell off.It is the actual rivet going thru the hole into the bellypan.I tried to punch the rivets inward..but can feel there is something solid behind the rivet and it won't push in towards the inside..so I would be scared to try and drill thru the reaning rivets and cutting into the exchanger. You would think the rivet should just fall out..anyways not looking for trouble here..no studs on the track..so all will be fine.
