I realize this is territory where a sled burns down QUICK, but having re-written a few timing maps in EFI vehicles and successfully recurving the distributor in my Crown Victoria, it's become an addiction. Is there a graph of the timing map for these sleds? I assume the only way to modify it is to slot the stator and rotate it. Has anyone ever made a pointer and set the timing with a gun? IMO, increasing the CR with the HG mod is a better way to go, but most manufacturers leave A LOT on the table in the midrange and low end (think cars, not sleds, I may be full of crap here). Due the the simplicity of what I assume is an RPM only map though, I bet there's less to be had. Still curious nonetheless.
the only way i know to advance timing on your sled is using an offset keyway.
more of a straightline theory, i personally wouldnt recommend it for trail applications. yamaha usually does a god job with the ignitions for general purposes. but, there is some to be gained for specific usage.

A little off topic, but. Why all the work on a Crown Vic? What year?

92, first car, stock motor (4.6) was junk so swapped it. Currently EFI 289/5 speed, pending Explorer 302 swap (GT40P) when I get back from my deployment.
I'm really interested here to see if anyone has the curve on these things, I saw mention of the Viper's aggressive curve so that spiked my inerest in this.

i have what yamaha put out for the ignition timing on that sled on paper.
