I've searched thru a bunch of old threads about clutching a 2001 sx600R with the can mod and reed notch mod. According to Mr. Sled I need the following:

8ab
2.4g on the inner
.8g on the tip
Green-yellow-green primary spring
48/43 Helix
Green Secondary spring.

My questions is where do i get all this stuff? I've been looking online and cannot find any of it excect the cams and weights??

Thanks

Ryan

The green secondary spring can be found on here. You just need to search the classifieds, look for guys parting sleds... The weights(rivets) will need to be bought from the dealer(try rich motorsports on here). Check your primary spring - is it g-y-g? If so, then you are set there, if not then go to the clutching section and there should be a part number that you can write down and take to your dealer and order(again Rich motorsports can help with most if not all). Helix's can be found on here too.

*NOT trying to plug R/M just trying to make it easy for an individual to grt their desired parts.

Thanks, i'll keep looking on here for this stuff to pop up and i'll give R/M a try. I'll tell them that the paid spokesman sent me!! hahaha

I set my 600 up very similiar. I purchased the weights and helix off this site, if i remember correctly. The rivets and springs I went to the dealer for. I could have bought springs used but I figured I would set my sled up with a brand new set instead. Excited to hear how it turns out!

How much did you have to give up for the helix? With this set up how does it perform compared to stock? Did you lose or gain on the top end?

My buddies both drive stock XC700's and i can run with them on take off and of course the take me on the top but I sure would love to beat them off the line by a bunch and give them a run on the top anyway. I am doing the reed notch and exhaust can mod as soon as I get it out of storage in a couple weeks.

Thanks

Ryan

does anybody with a sxr 600 have a Hauck clutch kit? They guys are Hauck are recomending i purchase their clutch kit #3 but i do not have any info on it. Wondering if anybody else has one?

Thanks

with the head gasket mod, bore silencer and reed notch, try 8ab with 2.4g in the inner and .8g in the tip, G-Y-G primary spring , 48/43 helix with a green sec spring at 80 degree....almost forgot stock rollers...

above is what Mr. Sled says for a 2001 sxr 600??

Ryan Here is what is listed in the Tech Section under Turks tuning tips. In Bold is what I think you should be looking at as far as clutching. There is a bunch of different ways you can go but Turks set ups work well.

97-98 SX600 Trail(Twin Cyl motor) - 51/43 Helix, 8-ab weights , stock springs and gear up one tooth.

99 SX600 Trail (triple Cylinder motor)- 51/43 Helix, 8-ca weights 0.8g in tip, 2-3 engagement shims, stock spring primary(Yellow-Green-Yellow), silver secondary(stock is Red), 1 or 2 layers removed from head gasket and 20/40 gearing. Jetting: 140 mains**Results in the clutch tuning section says great improvement from 0-80mph.

99 SX600 w/Bender pipes - 51/43 Helix, 89-L weights no rivet, stock springs, and stock gearing. Jetting: 140 mains.

I noticed in a later post that someone suggested a HAUCK clutch kit, the #3 kit suggested is a totally adjustable kit from them and I don't know if there is a baseline clutching set up chart from them to help get you in the ball park... There are people that will recommend some performance shops kits, but you can achieve the same results or better using Yamaha parts. Plus later if you need to replace those parts you can get them from the dealer and not a special high performance shop...

I have a Hauck clutch kit in my 600 tripple sx, not sure if it is a #2 or #3 kit but it consists of a different primary spring, secondary spring and a letter coded helix. The sled performed well with it but I feel that the aggressive 8ca weight setup with the sled should pull stronger. The thing I hate about the hauck set up is they don't just come out and state what the helix angle really is they try to hide this from you so their "secret" is not disclosed. I want to do the Turks set up this season also. Ryan, do you want to swap your stock can for my modded can?

thanks - there are so many sugestions and different ways to do it, it gets confusing!!
Let me look at my notes on what I ran for clutching, I have a lot of spare clutching parts I might be able to help you out with ;)!

I think I only gave about $50 for the helix as it was a typical one used on RX1's and Apex's I believe. With this setup it pulls harder but thats not what is really noticed, what you really notice is when you let up in a corner and snap the throttle back down, backshifts much quicker! I learned also that you really do want to be right on the money for rpm because if your not at 8500 (above or below) you will not be nearly as quick as it can be.

I had a set of weights laying around here from a xtx700.They are 8CH-10's.They are a little heavier then stock weights and according to the weight charts produce more force. So I tried them with 3.6 in both holes, stock Yamaha 51/43 green at 70.Seems to pull pretty good.RPM at wot is 8400-8500 dead on..I would like to try 60 wrap next time and maybe gear down 1 top upper and see if I can pick up a few km/h.Got to 145 km/h the other day when it was warm out.Pulls pretty good also..feels better then stock...if I could have studs on the track ,it would even be better on acceleration I imagine.
