how those 8bu-10 work versus the 8dn-20 ???
does it backshift good for trail riding ???
acceleration seem better if i look on many post !!!!
what about corner to corner acceleration ??

didnt try them yet so i will figure how they work ;)!

mod. gonna depend on what you use for your spring and helix set-up. one of my srx's had the set you bought in it when I bought the sled. with a silver spring and hauck k helix it worked well on the trails. when I used Jabber800's tips for speedruns it flew but backshift wasn't as good.

im curious staggs winter still far away .....love the way the 8dn-20 work so i try to keep the clutch the same way it react ....

don't do it mod..don't hurt yourself...10 sled lengths..that will give you whip lash...you will not be used to longer arms and kinked neck from the 8bu's....lol

don't worried i will not take ur set up i wanna go fast

The 8BU10's can be made to back shift fine! I run a very aggressive set up with alot of tip weight and a very soft secondary spring with a relatively shallow helix angle. This combination is not very good for back shifting but flat out hauls the mail in a long pull!!!

absolutelty. sorry Dan if it sounded like I thought it should backshift better. I knew what it was designed for and your set-up flat out hauls a$$. always appreciate your tips. just wanted mod to understand some of the ice racing set-ups posted weren't going to be the best trail set-up

Hey no problem!! Just thought I'd chime in to let everyone know that the weights can be set up great for the trail. I just choose not to set up that way myself as I mainly run lakes, drags and radar runs. There are alot of good combinations out there! You really just have to know what makes the clutches react the way they do so you can fine tune them to your own liking. One of the best reads I ever had was the old Aaen clutch tuning manual. The theory is still accurate years later.

What gives Tony? I put the loaded 8DN20 set up you gave me in my srx (98 ) last season, and it worked great, now the 8bu is better? is it better in the 00' and up, or is it better in the 98 99 also? Don't get me wrong here, not complaining one bit, but if you guys find the 8bu set up better, i will also give that a try.

I havent ever played with my stock 8dn weights, but with very little tuning i made my 8bu's haul hard in a straight line or on the trails. would never go back...

HELLO SHRADER. PRETTY FUNNY MAN. HEY I BUILT THIS 8BU-10 SET-UP FOR MY 2002 SRX AND LOVE IT. FREAKING SLED RAN 110 ON RADER WITH 139 POUND DRIVER IN 1000 F.T. , SO SURE THERE IS ALWAYS IMPROVEMENTS. I BET WOULD WORK FINE ON A 98 3:16 (yammie tony)
