does the 2004 600 venom ride nice like a vmax or is it a brick like a Viper?
found one of them for decent money (2400$) I know the motor is better then the 500 but a little heavier.

Just a note, my SXR 700 and my Son's Viper 700 always gets better millage than my wifes SX 600. Exactly same miles also. The gearing of the 700's allow for lower rpm's Al

If you're talking 500 twins, they are thirsty. On flat groomed trails you are lucky to get 80 miles per tank of gas. I have 3 of them, a '99,'00,&'01

I have a 2006 Venom for the wife. It rides very good for her. She loves it.
I had the rear shocks switched out to Viper rebuildable units, and had them revalved for her. Rides like a dream. Kept the stock fronts, and turned the preload all the way soft. As for gas mileage, we never have had a problem getting 130+ miles to a tank. And that was before I added the rivet to the clutch weights (Turks suggestion).

The twin 500 and twin 600's drink the fuel look for a tripple 600 or 700.Lot of the tripples will get up to 17-18 mpg

the 200-01 sx500r was geard down 1 tooth on top compared to the vmax 500's. best i got out of mine before re-gearing was 80mph with clutching set right and 8 mpg was a long slow ride. after the regear it averaged 9-10mpg and hit 95mph. i always needed gas before my brother's viper.
i remeber the ride that made me decide to upgrade to a 4 stroke. out with 01 srx700, 2000 sx700r piped with aeens, and an 700 tripple polaris. we all started full and drove the same trails at the same speed. the tripples all filled once. i had to fill twice to make the same distance. they where all under 1/4 tank and i still only had 1/2 tank left.
to note up untill 2010, you could still get the venture 600 tripple here in canada.

did you buy it new? i know the specs list it as geared down 1 tooth in the tec pages compared to the 1999. previos owner might have already done the gearing. mine was geared as per the tec pages untill i fixed it. without clutching, i hit 80.1mph on radar. with clutching i hit 80.8mph. both tests where done on hardpacked trail as i had no studs. after the re-gear it hit 95mph in the same conditions without changing anything else. brother was the test pilot both times.
