Get an oil cable from a 03 Mtn Viper. Thats what i got on my viper with 4in risers and it works great. Is the longer throttle cable an aftermarket one?

I've got a spare set of extended throttle and oil cables. Can't remember the brand off hand. Guy on Snowest was making them. They have the braided steel covers on them. Ran them on my srx and mountain max with a mx bar and 9" of riser. Take $55 shipped for them.

powermadd makes a throttle extension that works and they have the brake cable to.

Powermadd doesnt make any throttle or oil cable extensions. All they make are ones for the 4-strokes now, found that out two years ago. But they still make longer brake cables. Stay away from SPI cables, got a set and the were nothing but junk. The cable was very stiff and the end that screws on the carb rack broke on my second ride with them.

I think anything spi is crap. Its like the harbor freight of parts. I bought some arms that lasted one 3hr ride. I had to fight with the manager just to get store credit!

I ended up going with yamaha throttle and oil cables. Its more money but well worth it.

I put a 8 inch riser on my viper mountain 03 with renthal bars. I Had to get all tif cables be carefull changing the oil cable. I broke the cable bracket trying to loosen it and had to pull the engine to put a new bracket on it. I got the oil cable from hyperf.com its 8 in longer than stock and it is a braided steal line looks really good.

to answer SRX500Kid I did like the 2" powermadd riser but am going to a taller riser cause i am 6'1. also I believe the throttle cable I have now is from a viper mountain, im just wondering how hard itll be to put that oil cable on without taking apart the motor?

Done a couple of them. Can't remember on the srx specifically as I've done some sx based sleds too, but I know that the carbs have to come out, maybe the reed block, and possibly a motor mount that's in the way. After that it's pretty simple to get to.

i am 5.0ft so good for me ( i am 14 SHORT!)

Depends!

more than likely no. the oem cable is adjusted in the center and measured between the two ends (see manual). the easiest way to get it right the first time is to mark or etch the oil pump arm at wot and idle. install the new cable and adjust the new cable to the marks that you made.

Its the same spec on both. They are both stock cables, even though one is longer then the other. When I bought some SPI cables two years ago I marked where the oil pump arm was when i put the new cable on. Really didnt work because it was putting in more oil then it should have. Easiest is to just measure it where the cable comes apart in the middle.
