I made up a new Dolly System so I don't have to lift the sled by hand anymore to get them dollies under.Will save on my back and arms from future injuries.And the sled won't come off either when rolling it outside.The other dollies hit a small crack or stone and the ski's jump off.I made 1 set already and it works..second set under construction now also..I basically used things I had around here.Only thing that cost me anything where the 2.5 inch casters.I use 7 per dolly at $ 6.00 a piece and bought chain for up front to tow with.

Man why didn't I do this years back..it is so simple on and off now..within seconds and no heavy lifting.

I used old boat trailer rollers to attach where the ski's climb up and sliced ABS pipe in half long ways as a slippery runner for ski's to ride on.These are all just junk I have laying around.Cut the brackets in half and added 2.5 inches to get a 8" length.Then sliced the 5" rollers in half and added another roller piece in between them to get my length.Then took the bolts,cut off threaded ends and welded on new bolt with threads to get a 9"length to slide through it all.I sliced a section of old track for the back for the snowmobile to climb up on and continued with 1/4" rubber mat for the rest of the length in a diamond type finish look.Sprayed all wood surfaces under with rubberized rocker panel material to keep things dry..

To buy one of these units here would be nearly $500 shipped..way to much money..These are pics of some of the one you can buy out there

here are the videos of the dolly in action on and off and then showing how I pull it around with a chain attached to the front.Should be able to tow the sleds to the back shed in the Spring with the Garden Tractor also.



 
Very nice blue. I wish i had the talent you have to come up with that stuff! Ive seen those around but like you way to much money for what they were.

thats why the chain is there for..track drops on it and stops the dolly..look at the video closly and you will see it stop abruptly when sled is off..thanks for the comments guys..
It is a lot of work getting to just right..first try didn't work as it should..a little mods and 2nd attempt worked..

hey it worked..I laughed out loud( :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: ) and my wife in the kitchen yells to me..WHATS SO FUNNY>>>she goes..he he he..she is so sick of me talking sleds it is sickening..lol

Pretty cool Blue, now I might have to try and make one of those. Your garage is cleaner than mine.
 
you guys are great and funny...but yes I was thinking of making these to sell.but I think shipping would be high.That is why those companies make them more stream lined..to save on weight..but they are charging for them.To Pu the plastic one in the second pic I posted of them..they want $379 here in Canada and I am assuming shipping would be at least $80 to $100 if not more.
Now I wanted to make them out of tube steel..but welding and grinding is involved,then cleaning,priming and painting takes time to.Steel is not cheap to purchase here anyways..Probably all materials with steel,the casters and paint would be $200 easily.Now there is my labor to add to it and then shipping.You see where the cost would sit at.

I really built these because of the concrete on my garage floor where the doors shut.With always riding straight into the garage,the carbides are cutting the concrete and that area is where most of the water will sit and freeze and then I add a little salt to the area to melt the ice and everything gets weaker..then the carbides come thru and slice the concrete up more.So now I will drive up on these dollies outside before bringing sleds in, no more lifting for me.

Yeah I know. been doing overtime on saturdays lately crazy busy. Just gonna clean the carbs and re seal those pipes. I should pull the skid as well not gonna change coolant this year but I will drain and fill chaincase. Ah crap I guess I gotta clean those clutches too :o| lol Gotta wrench if you wanna play but I feel bad for jordan if he thinks hes just gonna put gas in his sled and go this year without doing anything lol
 
I wander if he even fogged his motor...cleaning carbs is out for him as he has no clue how to...oh well KABOOM in the making I guess..you can toe him then..lol

you need to take a break....... all these cool things to make keep me way too busy!!! I already have enough sled projects!!!

well thank you...I keep coming up with idea to make life a little easier for me.I should of been an inventor.I love to design things and then build them.I also should of been a welder instead of a cabinet maker..oh well..never to late to learn.I love my mig welder,can't believe all the things I have already fixed and made with it.And I am getting good at welding to.Examples were the w-arms I reinforced..they still haven't let go yet.
I don't know why I am so obsessed with snowmobiles.Just love to ride on snow I guess.
