just bought a beautiful 600 vmax with 1400 miles on it the bad news is the piston burnt a hole and scored a cylinder. I have not pinpointed the cause of the failure yet the crank bearings seem real good and I am going to replace the seals but should the Labyrinth seal between the two cylinders be replaced? Is it a rubber type seal that is a wear item? I am new to multiple cylinder 2 strokes. Any tips on the 94-96 vmax 600 would be great thanks guys

Some pics of the piston would help.
l would replace the labyrinth seal, you are in there anyways.
Strip and clean your carbs, inside could be the dirtiest part of the sled,a blocked pilot can cause a lean burn down. Check all the rubber boots etc. Hole in the piston could be water in the fuel aswell.

Those smart carb vmaxs are great when there set up right, almost as juicy as a Vmax4 though.

he did not give me the piston, I will ask for it Monday. Carbs do look dirty in the bowels. I was hoping to get around separating the crank it is not something I have done before.
