so i thought i would pull out my skid tonight to grease it up and put on some new goodys...that went good then since i had it out i figured i would grease up the jack shalft bearing and guess what as soon as i took the speedo housing off the cable going into the shalft broke off inside now................what the crap caused that????? and how do i get the rest out?????

if you are lucky you can get it out with a small drillbit as the other poster mentioned. If you are unlucky and it wedged up, you get to pull the driveshaft out to work on it!

I just removed two this past week. One I was able to knock an allen wrench into it and wiggle it out. The other was a different story. That one I had to drill and tap and use a slide hammer to get out. That one the driveshaft was out to do, But the bearing was stuck on it and was a major pain in the *** to get off. Had to heat it up and use the shop press. I heard someone else use a mig welder and weld the wire to the broken shaft and pull it out with that. That way wouldn't have worked for either of these last two I did.

You can try a small drill bit, turn it in by hand and try to get the bit to grab the broken part then pull it out. You can also try threading in a small dia. wood screw or sheetmetal screw, small enough dia. to thread into the broken cable then pull it out.

im going to work on it tonight ill let u guys know how it goes and hopfully i dont find any more suprizes

That worked real well on my SXR a couple years ago.....

If you cant get the spedo cable piece out , just push it in. I did this a few years ago on an SXR. Worked just fine, Shaft is hollow," way in there''

ya that thing isnt coming out i might pull the jackshalft out and work on it has any one else pushed it in???? and left it there???
