Drop Bracket question

I bought a 1994 V-Max 600 this summer..

I purchased these 3.5" drop brackets off of E-Bay to improve ride.

I'm reading now in other forums that the center top idler wheel bar needs to maybe be lowered also witch wasn't stated in the e-bay add.

( Do I have to lower the center wheels ? )

I'm waiting to hear back from the e-bay seller.

This is my first Yamaha, I've had three Bombardiers.

yes, center lowers half the distance of the rear, from what i have read. Also, those drop brackets will do nothing more than lower the skid in the tunnel, making more ground clearance. They will not improve the ride as you stated. In fact, it will prob. ride worse.
 
As I thought.. I will be installing a new shock with spring in the back. I haven't driven this machine yet so I won't know the difference with it being raised from stock.

The guy I purchased these from has a 1994 v-max and says it dose help in deeper snow and better steering response from his experience. I guess I'll have to wait till it snows to see..

How will in ride worse ? Curious.

They do ride low though.

they change the suspension geometry. Your back shock is doing more, the front is doing less. You probably will bottom out the suspension travel easier. Also, raising the back of the sled transfers A LOT of weight to the front of an already heavy machine...

At least in my opinion, unless you are doing exclusively deep snow, the brackets do more harm than good. And if you do deep snow, this is the wrong machine to start with!

x10 skid! best upgrade for the money. Night and day difference between stock and an x10, there is no comparison.

swap meet, craigslist, local ads... they were used on LOTS of various polaris sleds, so they are fairly common to see when someone is doing a polaris part-out. $100 to $200 is about the average price, depending on condition.
