Ohlin front shock extentions

Can someone tell me what exactly these are? Are these installed during a rebuild to lengthen the shaft? I'm going to have a set rebuilt to put on my MM and definately could use the extra inch of travel. Also will powdercoating the springs work as they are pretty chipped with a lttle surface rust and need to be sand blasted and repainted at least? Seems I saw someone doing that on this site. They are just an extension that is put on the end of the shaft. They can be added at any time. The springs can be powder coated also.

As far as the springs go ive had pretty good luck with a rattle can. A fellow member helped me out and you can have it mixed up at carquest in a rattle can in ohlin yello. I will see if the numbers are sill on the can in the morning. I also found out the cub cadet yellow touch up spray paint is also dead on for ohlin yellow. Can be found where cub cadet tractors are sold. Just another option.
