Stock reeds are pretty solid unless they have gone bad or you are really modded up. Can is really just more noise and less weight. Most will actually hurt the performance of the srx. It was set up pretty well (other than the clutching) right from the factory.
Really? thats good to know....say I did do the reeds and a mbrp can will that make it perform better or should i keep it stock and dick with the clutch? Also do you need to rejet to compinsate the mods on these sleds?

Can and reeds probably won't require any jetting changes, but will more than likely make it slower. Solid clutching is the answer. There are a number of good setups that guys have listed on the site.

Can makes noise and saves weight and in some cases takes a little hp, reeds will give you better throttle response makes it snappier
So reeds alone will not loose power just help with throttle response....guessing that the boyesen reeds r better than stock?

X2 with the money you'll be throwing out the window on reeds and can get it trail ported and make 10-15 hp

stock reeds, stock exhaust. Go with a known clutch kit and get it to hook up.
if you have a little dough, put an Sc3 suspension in it. Trail port will let her go with anyone out there.

So I am seeing alot of people with the heelclicker...also bender which one is better and what other ones are out there that r recomended?
do a search on 8dn20 set up, got that in wifes 98 pull's good, run's strong

Sxr700Bandit
Triple Piped 700 Triple
Bad98SRX if you go to the tech pages and read on the clutching there (which there is alot to read), the set ups that are listed are pretty much tried and true and work well, if you see a recommendation from a guy named Turk the set up will be dead on and work flawlessly. (unfortunately Turk is with the snowmobile gods now)
If you go with Heel clicker weights there are a few different styles and have heard some pretty gory stories about clutches blowing up with those weights in them...(not trying ot scare you off just a forewarning).
Believe it or not you can get the same or better results using yamahas clutch parts and springs with out having to worry a few years down the road on how to obtain worn parts from manufacturers that may have gone out of business.

Mine is a 00 SRX700 which im sure makes a diff, but I love my 8DN-20 setup. I think Mr. Viper has a 8DN-20 clutch kit setup if you search for it.
