just a silly question... as i do park my sleds every now and then in unfavorable areas... i understand that my sxr 700 can be started if someone unplugged the ignition cable? just like in the old polaris indy trail sleds? or is it more work then just unplugging it? i want to prevent someone from pulling that wire and taking off with my sled..any suggestions? other then chaining it?

install a kill switch.A kill switch that attaches the line to your jacket .That way you have the other end with you when you leave your sled.

if you are really paranoid, you could easily install a hidden kill switch somewhere in the engine compartment. doesn't have to be super-secret, just something that will ground out the ignition if its activated.

Get a throttle lever lock!! I searched and cant seem to find a link to show you what they look like. But they lock on the handel bar so you can't use the thumb throttle.

Do you have reverse? Just park facing into a wall... The goal isn't to make it impossible to steal, just harder than the sled parked next to you!
The club?staggs65 said:what were those steering wheel locks called for your cars that were all the rage back in the 90's. cant believe I cant remember the name of them goofy things. WE NEED ONE OF THOSE FOR SLEDS....LOL

If you don't drop them in the belly pan first... If I tried to dip them in snow my luck would be that the porcelin would crack.bluemonster1 said:you dip them in the snow first..lol

there is a few things to prevent someone from stealing it ...a skidoo cover would probally work the best .lol .....or you could unplug the wire harness to the cdi box by your knee ..or a track lock ....i got a bike cable that i feed through a few windows on the track and around the bumper ...

It won't start with the ignition unplugged, it needs to be "hot wired". At least that's my experience with a few of my sleds when I misplaced the key.yankeeslover said:just a silly question... as i do park my sleds every now and then in unfavorable areas... i understand that my sxr 700 can be started if someone unplugged the ignition cable? just like in the old polaris indy trail sleds? or is it more work then just unplugging it? i want to prevent someone from pulling that wire and taking off with my sled..any suggestions? other then chaining it?
