Tether kill switch

Searched this site and the web and can't seem to find a tether kill switch for a 2000 MM

You can find tethers for atv's all day long, and fuel injected sleds, but I can't seem to find one for a carbed MM

Anyone happen to find one at some point and could throw me a bone?
 
almost universal. some sled brands use a "normally open" circuit, others use a "normally closed" circuit. all the 2 stroke yamahas use the normally open. any tether will work on your sled as long as its noted as normally open. all the tethers are a "one fits all", as long as the circuitry is correct. you wont find one specific to your machine, you will be lucky to find one that specifies yamaha.
 
I was thinking that but couldn't get it straight in my head if the "normally" would be with the tether attached or not. thanks for the clarification snowdad4.
ps. I'll take those HC's as soon as youre ready..lol
 
All 2 strokes and most small engine 4 strokes with a magneto ignition have a "normally open" ignition coil. There is a wire that comes off the magneto, goes through a switch and returns to the block. When the switch is "open" it allows the magneto to build voltage in the coils. When the circuit it "closed" it grounds the magneto to the block and prevents it from building voltage, no spark, engine doesn't run.
