I am looking for a thread with pictures showing a viper seat install on an sx. Will a viper gas tank fit an sx?? What else is needed? I have searched and found nothing.

Viper seat slides right on the sx chassis. I put a Viper seat on my kids '00 Vmax. I think I had do change the wiring plug for the tail light. Thats about it.

ditto to steins responce had to change the plug on the seat with the old seat but fits nice !!

So the seat fits, but what about exposed seat fasteners on the tank? I have an '04 Viper tank that I can put on, but will this cause issues with the gas gauge on the old pod style gauge? Or do I just deal with the exposed fasteners on the '98 XT tank?
The fasteners never bothered me when I did the swap over. I'm sure there is a way do make the gas guage work if you want to swap tanks.

I unscrewed the fasters and filled the holes with black permatex. If it still bothers me im going to buy a tank bag to cover it up. I have a seat riser for the viper seat if you want to raise it up!!

Thanks motorhead. At this time, I'm still contemplating what this sled will be used for. If I extend the skid, that might be in the future.

I did this last year to my SX. I got a viper tank for $20, it fits exactly like the sx tank. I forgot to keep the old seat for the wiring plug, but a good friend (Nicko) had an old seat I was able steal the plug from. I like the viper seat alot better. I also built a seat wedge.

When I put the viper tank on my sx the gas gauge plugged right in and worked fine.

Does your SX have the same single pod style gauges as the '97SX or is it like the '99-'01 big gauges?sleddineinar said:

Just like the 97. Here is the thread from all the updates I did last year. I don't have really good pictures for the seat & tank, but I'll take some more this year, when I finish my other build.

I never got a chance to get the Viper seat as home projects filled my whole winter and spring. This fall will be a different story.
