A couple years ago I bought one of those SPI clutch rebuild kits for my wifes 600 XTC. I had a local sled shop install the bearings in the thing and when I git it home the spider would not slide into it, it was to tight. I just figure the bearings were junk. I bought a yamaha bearing and had a buddy do it at his shop. It was fine. I since have bought my own press and replaced the bearing in my MM this afternoon with a Yamaha bearing and it too is to tight and the spider will not fit. The old bearing came out smooth and had no issues intalling the new one, it too went in smooth. What's the deal anyone have any ideas,I'm confused. This damn bearing cost 28 bucks. I'm pissed. What could I have done here?
 
doesn't make sense..you would think it is all a standard size for sure...usually they may be slightly loose more then tight.The diameter is ok but the ID is wrong then/Measure the ID and then check what Yamaha's size is..something wrong here.Take a pic and post it..
 
I got it. Called my dealer just to make sure it was the right bearing it was. Talked to the service manager, he suggested pushing out and trying it again. which I did and it worked. The bearing was tight at first, but settled in and now is moving freely and the bearing looks ok. Oh well, what a pain. Thanks for the interest blue. Soc
 
Sure didn't look like it. It went in straight and was seated all the way around against the small ridge at the bottom. All was cleaned before I installed the first time. But, I did hit the surface with a scotch bright pad brfore I reinstalled it the second time. I just glad I din't hose the bearing,they are not cheap.
 
unless when installing the bushing..it was smacked on one end while going in..then the end would have deformed a bit..thus you couldn't slide the spider thru..
