There is a bunch of snow in the forecast but I still have a few repairs to do. This time last year we rode in on 4 or 6 inches of snow and got about a foot overnight. Hoping for 1st ride the weekend after thanksgiving
The 98 had a bearing in the chain case break on the last ride of the season. I have not worked on sleds much but I was surprised at how easy it was to remove the chain case.
Took the carbs off to clean but they look brand spanking new inside. Going to replace the needles and clean anyway in hopes that it cures a hard start condition I have always had. Runs great but takes several pulls to start sometimes even when warm. I did find a carb to intake manifold boot that was kind of deformed looking and probably not sealing so I ordered a new one.
I do have a question about jetting. The motor in my 98 is a "red head" 700 triple out of a 99. I believe the jets are 142.5; should this be decreased for high-altitude riding? We ride between 4500-5500 feet here. Plugs never look fouled but better fuel mileage never hurt anyone.
