I have a 97 700sx, it had hauck pipes and i put it back to stock. I and running 142.5 mains and 45 pilots needles are on the middle notch and fuel screws @1.5. It runs good, but will bog a bit off idle if i punch it. Over 4500 rpm it respond normally. Are the fuel screws too lean??
Thanks

If it idles great and everything else, just take your carbs off again, turn the fuel screws out another 1/4 turn, throw them back on and fire it up, let it warm up so the heat exchangers are getting warm to the touch (I do that part every ride). Put the throttle to the handle and hang on because your bog will be no more.

I never set the fuel screws to 1.5 anymore, I've usually been going to about 1 7/8.

EDIT: After rereading your original post and saying you have to feather up to clutch engagement, you might have a plugged pilot jet, but usually the sled will idle quite crappy if that was the case.

u do not run 45 piolt jets they come stock with 47 i run 50 pilot on mine but its got tripple pipes

I don't think Yamaha even makes a 47 pilot. Stock is in fact 45.

i would not post on this site if i did not know what i was talking about i have a 700 that had 47 piolt and yes yami does have them

.................if all else fails, check your pulse (whatever you call them) lines from crankcase to fuel pump. Some times a small fracture in the line can cause a low end bog/stumble due to lack of pressure at the fuelpump, when the rpms build so does the pressure and the problem goes away. Having to 'feather up' the rpms is symptomatic of this also.

Good luck

YOUR CALLING IT A BOG SO I AM ASSUMING ITS RICH. IF ITS SLIGHT, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLEAN IT UP WITH AIR / FUEL SCREWS. TRYING CLOSING THEM UP 1/2 TURN. IF ALL FAILS, CHANGE YOUR NEEDLE POSITION, THAT WILL CURE IT. 3:16 (yammie tony)
