i have a 2000 sx500r and last year the steering was very hard for my (arms got nome!) i was thinking to go with the 4" or 6" slim jims from woodys but witch is better? has any on tried them? i think it has 8" singles on there now!

Why do you feel the numbness was caused by the wearbars? Was it because of the excessive steering effort required?

I put 4" slimjims on my 08 Vector, Loved them, i also put the Studboy duce bars on my 07 phazer and hated them, tossed them out and went to the slim jims, and love them. My wife drives the vector the most and really loves them as well. They will make it a little stiffer to stear at REAL low speeds, but absolutly zero darting, and very little push in the corners. Over all they made two toally different style sleds handle better. They will not make it stear easier, but it will stear better. Once you get over 5 MPH or so you will not notice a difference in ease of stearing compared to a standard carbide. They seem to work well in all conditions as well, I drive on hard pack/ice, and groomed trails the most, but often jump into the Deep powder. When in the powder they seem to take away a little bit of float, but not enough to in my opinion to hurt.

IMO it makes no sence to go more than 4 in of carbide since there are two runners. Both my sleds have 96 pics, I do not feel any rear end push with the 4 in carbide.

Granted i am using them on different sleds than you, and most of the above is my opinion but it is how i feel about them.

hope this helps

Hard steering and darting does not come from your carbides. They do help but hard steering comes from too much ski pressure. This will also increase your darting. Sounds like you may need to check your preload on your shocks and where your limiter straps are set at. Then the carbides/doolies will help with darting and better steering. Also shim as mentioned above. Loosen up those front springs and let out the limiters as much as you can. I like it just enough so that i dont push in the corners. This will also greatly improve your overall ride. Also look up bethevipers write up on skid adjustment. He covers alot of this.
