I have a 95 Vmax 600 I tried to pull it on the trailer the belt smoked up and left rubber on my primary clutch. When I have it on the stand it every thing works fine the secondary will engage and the track will move but once its on the ground it won't move an inch.

With the track off the ground, run it and see if the belt is coming all the way up in the Primary, and that the Secondary is opening up all the way. Sounds to me like a Primary issue, bad bushing causing binding.

When I ran it last night the secondary didn't want to budge on the ground but the primary wanted to the belt looked like it was being held up by the secondary. Also my primary clutch is a comet

Sooo, when the track was off the ground, the belt never went down into the secondary?? Im trying to establish if its a Primary issue or if its a frozen Secondary. Get the track off the ground and run it, to see what happens to the belt.

maybe there is no spring in the 2ndary or the spring is broken thus the sheaves just pop open and there is no side pressure on the belt. When off the ground resistance is gone and maybe the sheaves are catching some belt to turn...otherwise don't really know what the h#ll is going on there...

The belt did go into the secondary with the track off the ground. And the belt comes up on the primary.

that is without track resistance.Try it again with track on the ground and watch what the 2ndary is doing. The wrap could be set weak and there is no side pressure on the belt when chaincase, driveshaft and track have to turn.Would be cool if you could video tape the clutches with track up and with track down and then we can see something..

With the track down the primary spins at idle as it should and when I give it throttle the primary wants to engage, the secondary doesn't do any thing and the belt won't move so the primary just burns the belt

check underneath if something is broken and jamming up against the track when weight is put on the skid..something is jamming it,or check your chain case..very weird.

Try to roll the sled forward or back by turning the secondary by hand. If the sled is on concrete, put dolleys under the skis to make it easier.

its on the trailer right now. everything inside the primary and secondary look fine springs are both there not cracked or broken. with the track in the air i can move it by turning the secondary

im going to try again tomorrow. pull it off the trailer and give it a shot again will have video up after if my other belt doesn't work

The secondary should not move at low speed any way, It sounds like something bad in the primary or it could be oil or moisture of some sort on the belt. Does it seem like it revs freely like the primary clutch is not grabbing or does it seem like it gets to a certain rpm and not go any higher as the belt is smoking?

I took it off the trailer yesterday and pulled the trailer about 30 feet infront of me and let the sled warm up for a bit and tried to pull it forward. It moved fine no problems at all made it all the way up the trailer. I am runnig a dayco belt.ob was moisture or something

stick with OEM belts, they work the best and are a harder compound.I used an after market belt once on my SRX 600 to save some $.Turns out it cost me a lot more in the end.The belt blew,my footwell was dented in good and it ripped my speedo cable out.Cost me the belt and the cable for a total of about $150.00.Was lucky my clutch didn't get damaged.
