ive got a 98 srx 700 triple it will only get up to 65 mph and then it backfires and thats all it goes any ideas on were to start

When was the last time that you absolutely know of, that the carbs were cleaned properly. And how do your P/Vs look?

not sure when the carbs cleaned, im getting the sled from a friend and kinda going off of whats hes tellling me, trying to get a baring on were im going to need to start, carbs are first on my ajenda, second im thinking check compression

Do both. Check the compression before you yank the carbs off and at least you'll know what it is. I clean my carbs every year.

Yes clean carbs check comp. I had a 98 that I found a bad coil machine ran find up to about 65 mph and then it would just fall of. Because coils are wired in series
