thanks for you help i am instead using a 97 zrt suspension i am going to pick it up tonight how will this affect my ride height? i believe the 97 had 13.5 inch

The biggest problem with installing it into a Short Travelled sled, is balance. But I think the old ZRT's had a fairly low setting front end so you may be ok. Or you may have to longtravel the front of your SX or pull the limiter straps up considerably to acheive a good balance of ski and track pressure.

sno x the main reason of doing this swap is to help carry the skis and reduce ski pressure i couldnt get the proaction set up the way i wanted it. ive clutched geared and added more studs this thing snaps hard when you give it gas and it still has trouble getting the skis off the ground and from what i can tell the suspension is working and nothing is seized on it so i think the suspension is not allowing me to pull it up.

If you want it to stand on it's tail, remove the transfer rods. That will eliminate the coupling.
i dont know if you were being serious or not but will this damage the sled? how do i remove the transfer rods?

If your just trying to increase weight transfer, there are things you can do to the proaction skid to get that done.(soften the rear spring, let out the limiter straps, change the spacers on the transfer rods....etc) But if your trail riding and want a better overall ride, swap it out.

i do zero trail riding and the upper gap in my transfer rod are as far as you can pretty much go with out completly removing the plastic rings i do all open feild rinding i have one goal in mind and thats carrying the skis across my fields and catwalking

I messed around alot with the pro to have it not break the track loose when hard on the gas.You set it up so the front end lifts alittle when you sit down on the seat. And run a larger gap on top of the transfer rods by rewelding the top washer on stock rods or removing the top nut on yamaha transfer rods.1 1\2 to 2 " gap works for pulling the skis and finding some traction but in the end i went for another brand skidframe that works very well.imo

yamaha screwed up bigtime when they built these sleds......they will last forever with another brand skidframe under them.

what do you mean top nut.

I am interested in this as I too have had tons of trouble trying to set mine up to grab. Can you really just take the transfer rods out completely without ruining anything when you ride it. I never even gave that a thought. mine is a 96.

well i took my transfer rods out and it put a smile on my face when i took it for a ride nothing like going 70 with the skis 10 inches off the ground. i think my track might be a little tight tho because everyone once in a while it whould sound and feel like it was racheting but i thought racheting was from a loose track? every once in a while it will make a clunk clunk sound but not a hard clunk.
