00 SXR 700 Heated Shield Power

I want to hook up a heated shield outlet. After using the search function I am still confused. I found two answers. One says to use blue wire and handlebar mounting bolt. Other says use brown wire at ignition switch and handle bar bolt.

Does any one have the same sled and a working shield that can tell me how theirs is wired?

Either one will work. Your heated shield will work off any 12v source, either ac (blue wire) or DC (brown wire). Best bet is the blue wire under the handle bar pad if you dont have a battery. Was my first choice before e starts.

I do have a battery it is electric start. I am just looking to do a clean install. I have wired them on other sleds to the AC side it works the same. The shield does not care if it is AC or DC......

Just looking for some good ideas from a great group of people here.

blue wire all the way....
