02 viper shocks on 97 sx 700

I know this is probably on here somewhere but I can not find it. I have a 97 sx 700. I just put 02 viper shocks and longer limiter strap in the rear skid. Now the front of the tracks sits lower then the back. So in other words the back part of the track does sit on the ground Or the track doesn't sit level Will that be a problem?? Will putting on front shocks from an 02 viper correct it?? Or raising the front some how?? What is need to do that?? Thanks

You can simply adjust your limiter straps to pull the front of your skid down. The way it is set up now, it may want to have skis in the air when you pound on it. I personally would put longer front shocks on the sled. Also you didn't mention it, did you change out the plastic spacers on the transfer rods? I would recommend doing that as well.
 
No I didn't change out the plastic spacer on the transfer rods. Should you use the ones for a viper?? What front shocks would you use? I know if I pick up on the front bumper a little bit the track levels out. Would viper shocks be a direct bolt in? It is sitting on a small decline so may look a little worse then it is. idk. Thanks guys

Get some Viper front shocks along with the eyelet mount for the shock. You will also need the Viper transfer rod spacers. Then setup your skid as per BeTheViper's post on setting up the skid.

After all the work is done properly the sled handles night and day diff from stock.
One thing to watch out for is that you may actually get inside ski lift while cornering.
 
ebay item number 190519516613 Is the eyelet mount you are talking about or is it a bushing or spacer you need or are you replacing the upper shock mount? Then the viper shocks bolt right in?? Part numbers would be great. Sorry If I seen a little slow here

I'm sure all you have to do is remove the top shock brackets and the viper shocks will bolt to the eye on the bulk head.
 
So basically remove the upper shock mount. Bolt the top of the shock where the old shock mount was and bolt the bottom in. This will raise the front of the sled to level out the track?? What year of viper shocks?
 
Been doing some reading and finding that it been done different way's. Tell me if this will work. Get some 02 viper front shocks, Get the spacer for the top mount from a viper. Since the top mount is a fork and not an eye. Put the spacer in the existing top mounting bracket for the shocks bolt the bottoms in and realign the ski's camber and toe. Also how much would you tighten the front spring?? Thanks
 
Am I not right, all you have to do is remove the bracket that the top eye of the shock connects and there is already a eye on the frame to connect the top of the viper shock or are the bulkheads different?
 
cant say for certain on a sx as I don't own one but my srx does not have the mount built into the bulkhead like my viper. I've long traveled a bunch of srx's and built my own mounts to use viper shocks with the viper bushings. I'm not a fan of the idea of just putting a spacer in there and running metal on metal on the top mount, but that's just me
 
First I have used both tyes on my MM. MM comes with the clevis type shocks. I added the SRX brackets to run a set of shocks off an SRX. When I go to the micro fiche it shows that you are right Staggg that the SRX has a different frame that the SX's,SXR's and the MM's. mes882, can you take a picture of your frame and post it?By the way, I do have set of viper shocks that I tried on my MM for a short while until I bought a set of Ohlins. If your interested, PM me and I'll send you a picture and give you a fair price.
 
Here are the pics two off them is under the hood where the upper shock bracket mounts and one is of the shock mount on the bracket. I have read about people getting this bushing 8CR-2376B-00-00 which is 19 under skies on an 02 viper
 
let my 12 year old kid repaint the hood grills. All I can say at least the over spray isn't in obvious places. I haven't tried cleaning it up yet.

Before you start anything. Use an angle finder/incline meter tool to get the camber of the spindles.
Remove the upper shock mount. I would use new spacers or eyelet mounts for the top of the Viper shock.
Set spring tension to 0 pressure when fully extended. Install the Viper shocks and check the camber/toe again. When I did my 97 sx it all stayed within factory specs.
 
These are the bushing 8CR-2376B-00-00 you are taking about right. Am I just putting these bushing in the stock upper mount where the shock is mounted now. Or am I taking off the upper mount and putting these bushings in where the upper mount was. Good idea with the angle finder. What is the eyelet mount? where do I get them? A picture of one done would be great if someone has one.
