Nice!

I just picked up a '79 last week as well. Mine needs a few parts and some work though. The guy had it in his garage for about a decade and never got around to doing anything with it.

well buffed out the hood today aside from the spider cracks it looks like new ......also got to looking things over lastnight and today ...ran the motor a bit last night sounds good but i will still go through it poped the carbs off and looked inside and see that it is sleeve with some porting and pistons are boost ported ...........why can't i just get a stock motor for once guess i will be looking for cylinders ....need to rip it down and see what else had been done to it looks to have a 80 crank as the oil pump gear is on it but the rest is all 79 ....pipes are solid and just need a coat of paint carbs all check out still has the air deflectors in the pan and they are in very nice shape. has comet primary (that will have to go)

will post more with pics once i get into it further

They Are Not Above The Exhaust But Above The Intake And Are Refered To As Boost Ports They Are Suppose To Help With The Fuel Charge ....like Extra Transfers .............many Say They Work And Give A Boost In Hp Others Say They Don't Help Anything ..............i Have Mixed Feelings About Them I Will Let You Know When I Get It Back Together If There Is A Difference I Have Ridden Many Stockers And Own A Few But Is Has Been A While Most Of My Stuff Has Engine Work

Errrr yes I was thinking above intake and typed exhaust by mistake (does that make my dysledzic or just bi-portal?) ;)
I realize these are probably 8G9 cyls with 2 extra boost ports (special sleeve?) but it's the PISTON that I have never seen dual-ported like that to match. (the only port I've seen on the piston was 90 degrees next to the pin bore)
Anyone know of before and after dyno sheets for the this twin-ported piston and finger-ported sleeve combo? Thanks

none of this stuff is factory this was all done at one time the pistons are Wiseco's and you need to have the holes in the pistons to make the combination work

I saw it done on Phazors that came from Reichards back then, I think Jeff was the one doing it. It also did come stock back then on some sleds, my '76 Rupp Nitro had those, very big holes in the back of the pistion to increase the flow rom the reed cages. Those took up most of the piston skirt, came right from the factory. Nutz How can I get ahold of you? Bob
