I need to replace my 2 rear shocks for my 1997 vmax sx by christmas and the store closes tomorrow at 2. I went to match up my shocks today and the ones they have are listed as vmax 700 for 98. no 97. they have same fittings but they are a little longer. will these fit my sled or will I have to do anything to fit them?

they are longer because your old ones are wore out
I think they are the same, but don't take my word for it. Go to the tech pages and look up the shock travel for both years if they are the same you're in the clear.

i think their for the xtc. how would them being wore out make them shorter?

Any help?
the xtc shocks are longer travel. That might be what you are looking at. They would bolt right in and all you would have to do is lengthen your limiter straps. You would have a longer travel suspension them
Or buy my skid lol

unless i can get it shipped overnight then ill have to pass. so i just get longer limiter straps? My pop makes them and I wanted to know how long are the straps so could somebody measure them for me? Im nearly done rebuilding my sled and i will post my progress once i get everything.

I measured viper straps the other day and they were 17 inches.

The shocks you purchased would be the correct legth for and XT or XTC of that same year, with the 11" travel rear, you could used the ones you bought if you lengthened the limiter straps as mentioned, as well, you need the longer transfer rods from any sled even up to a Viper, the only issue is then you need to get the longer shocks for the front to balance the sled out.

not the problem. one of each eye hole width is to wide to fit in the clevis. I already have viper shocks for the front and lengthened limiter straps and stuff.
