Hey guys, I tore my clutch apart last night and began getting ready to change my rivets. What do i need to do to my new rivets to be sure that they do not come out. I know this is probably a dumb question, but i*am a newbie. Thanks
usually I bang them out with a punch, drilling head off first..but now made a jig to push them out with my press.Haven't tried the press yet..but should be easy. Also there is this device you can buy, don't know if would really work.
If you find some one like Swede says with a shop press you can install the rivets just like the factory. If you use a hammer and punch you run huge risks of destroying the weight if you miss your mark. I have destroyed many vises trying to get the tonnage to compress the rivet. So a shop press is your best bet.
drill the heads, punch em out.put in new ones andhold the weight with a vice grips with base of new rivet on something solid.i used a old 4x4 hub socket.beat em with a ballpean hammer starting in the middle working it over the sides.very easy, tools would be nice if you do it often as it does take a while
