Anyone know if a 16" wide track will fit in a 2003 mtn viper? Have a chance to pick up a 151"x2"x16" at a good price and was wondering if I could make it work.

it will fit. you will run into a couple of rub spots and may need to bust out the grinder on a couple bolts and rivets.
havent done it on the mtn viper, but the mtn max i did shares the same tunnel design. seems like notching of the drops was involved and a couple of bolt heads inside the tunnel attached to the chaincase. its been a couple years and that sleds gone.
worst case, making them 15" wide isnt too bad if you have a table saw and some helpful hands. seems like this was covered here a few years back.

They fit, like Snowdad4 said, just have to grind down a couple of the chaincase nuts/bolts, I have ran mine for 2 seasons just fine so far (02 Viper).
Great! Good to hear from a couple of guys who actually did it. I was thinking about the extra floatation too, so I wouldn't really want to cut it down to 15" anyways. Sounds not too bad to rig up so I will probably try it. Thanks guys

You'll need to do some research to see what gearing/clutching will get you close after putting the new track on. You should see if WNYViper is willing to share.

I put one in a Mtn Viper. I made my own drop brackets and front mounts because I was using a skid out of a XTX. You do need to grind off a few rivets to keep them from fraying the edge of the track. I also changed the chaincase mounting bolts to to SS button head allen bolts inserted from inside the tunnel. There is one nut plate that like to rub the track.
The sled is already a 151. He put Rx1 rails on the original skid. But the track on there is pretty rough, thats why I was inquiring about putting a 16" one on. So the sled is already set up gearing and hopefully clutching wise for that track. But I will still have to play around with it if I want to run it here at home, Its set up for the mountains now.
I do have the srx for running here at home but I'm sure I'll be too curious and want to try the viper out here sometime too. This viper has bender pipes on it so I'm hoping that my 141" srx clutching might be close so I have a baseline to start at. I've got 8bu-00's in it with a hauck G helix and I love the way it pulls all the way to 100 mph. Has anybody ever tried these weights in a piped viper? I know the two sleds run at different desired rpm ranges but I dont know how that will effect what weights will work for the clutching. I was thinking about pulling my srx primary and secondary and trying them on the viper and see what happens. (after I regear it too)
