Best gas to run?

umm what if i can only get 90 octane up here in ak? it's like im in a foreign country or something.

If that is it, you'll have to use it. In conjunction w/ abit of octane boost. That discussion would be a whole nother can-o-worms though. You require 91 minimum in your SRX and if the fuel your getting is indeed 90 octane(which I doubt it is up there), you'll need something to make up the difference.
Can an airfield help ya out. A gallon of 100 octane in a fill up of that 90 octane should do the trick.

I don't know what the compression ratio was on my SX7 w/ one layer removed, but it ran very well on Shell 91. Not nearly as well with 93. And that particular station gets fresh fuel at least twice a week.

Isn't that normal for a 2 stroke engine. If you go higher then recommended you will get less power. That just the nature of 2 strokes. It goes without saying if you don't have a choice better higher octane then lower than 91 in the SRX.

I run the highest octane fuel i can find and add some gas line antifreeze to hel avod any water issues and to boot i also run egt gauges to make sure im not mellting down. I dont know why everyone doesnt run egt gauges.they are cheap compared too a rebuild.

What brand of EGT gauge do you use? Is it similar to this one? https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=64 Looks like a good idea to me !

Don't want to get in a 4 stroke debate here but this restriction doesn't apply to them.

Lets keep the discussion on 2 stroke.
