I was adjusting the preload on the front rear spring, backing off all preload, set fra to softest setting. Sat on sled and gaps in control rods are equal.this should be correct right? Now when I lift the rear up onto the stand the front spring has about a 1/4 inch gap btween it and the spanner nuts. Is this normal? Seems to me it will be flopping around when rear of sled is in the air while riding.
Last ride it rode very stiff. Was at stock settings. My weight 150# wet.

Try shortening your limiter strap. This will keep your spring tight. Your spring preload should be adjusted when your suspension is fully extended.

Limiter strap adj makes sense, I'll try it.
If I adjust it to zero preload in the air it would bring me back to the original setting.

I have found the best way is to first adjust my limiter strap to the setting I would like. For myself, I like the front part of my suspension to compress slightly when the sled is sitting flat. Once you have this setting, then adjust your spring preload with the suspension off the ground. Hope this helps.
