Building Srx 440 mod motor need to know what heads are better 76 77 or ssr heads and were could I get them I have 1976 ported cylinders help

Mod SRX

The 76 and 77 were both great race sleds, the 77 was the holy grail though. Stock specs show the 77 had more H.P. Call Leon at Koch's Performance and he will have loads of good info (and parts) on these motors. He is located in Crivitz WI.
Upland

The SSR was an awesome looking sled but didn't fare as well as Yamaha had hoped on the race track.

8F2 HEADS AND 8H0 HEADS ARE VERY CLOSE. 8A7 HEADS I WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK AND CHECK TO BE SURE. THEY MAY BE CLOSE TOO. THE 8G9 OR 8J0 CAN BE MATCHED TO ANY OF THOSE AND ARE 100 TIMES EASIER TO FIND. 3:16 (yammie tony)

If you can find 76, 77 SRX or 8H0 heads that have been correctly modified I would use any of them as they are the same or very nearly the same. I would NOT modify a set that has never been cut however. They are just too rare and modded ones (especially since that is what you want) are all around. I would prefer a set that has had .020-.030" cut from the base and nothing else if it was me.
You can NOT modify 78-80 heads to be the same but you can make them work with the right people doing it. I may have some 76 heads I would be willing to part with but it will take me time to look if you are not in a hurry. I do have a set of race cut 77 heads I will sell if you are going to be putting this motor on a dyno.
