MY driver cable is broken off and I am changing my track and rebushing my skid. How deep is the hole in the driver shaft to take cable? Drilling is a pain and I dont want to go too deep. Would it be just as easy to tap the hole and pull out the insert and replace it? Any one done this?

The hole is deeper than the insert (can't remember how much). I remove them as you describe. Drill 7/32" hole, 1/4" course tap. Small slide hammer with 1/4" bolt attached to the end and out they come.
A guy could also rig a puller using 1/4" threaded rod a nut/washer and a sleeve that the insert would go through. Drill, tap, tread in rod, slide sleeve over rod, thread on washer/nut, tighten..
They aren't in there that tough.

Ok I drilled it for 10/32 and used a 1/4 drive 1/2 socket to pull it out. All it did was strip out the nut and bolt. I then drilled it to 5/32 and tapped to 1/4 and with a stack of washers it came right out. Thanks New parts ordered. I will push the new parts in later this week. Will put track back in first.
