Was just wondering why my girls sled which is a 2003 vmax 600 er uses twice as much oil as my 1999 srx 700. I checked cable length and is to specs but smokes alot too. also seems to have a vibration when idleing. Any ideas? Now let me say that this sled has only a 1000 miles on it and yes i cleaned the carbs.

when the pumps fail they fail to wide open. might be something to look into. have you figured out the ratio for each sled?
i just measured the length of cable to oil pump. its too specks. bought this sled almost new and been like this the whole time. hard to believe pump be bad. this things is showroom new. it runs like raped ape. just wondering if this is normal.. my srx has no issues.

If the oil pump is good (which I believe it has to be since its the newer updated one) try bending the perch that the oil pump cable is threaded into a little bit. There are two hash marks on the part that moves back and forth and one on the pump itself. Bend the arm the cable threads into so the first hash mark that matches up with the one on the pump is actually a bit short of matching up. I did this to mine after I replaced my pump and put almost 2,000 miles on it with no problems before I sold it. It seems like it wouldnt do anything but it made quite the difference.
