cleaned the carb's last night on a friend's v-max deluxe(2000) when I fired it we noticed the tach is not working,everything else work's great,looked for the wiring over,any idea's?or what we need to look for,Thank's Dan

p.s -the battery is dead on the machine,does the battery need to be good for the tach to work,thank's

No battery is just for starting.I would look over the wires again something is unplugged that shouldnt have been.You can also look at the big plug close to tach.Just to see if its loose maybe but shouldnt be ? Good luck

If the battery is dead, the tach won't work. I've had that experience. It seems strange but it's true.
