My sled had done this on two or three rare occasions the last two winters. I had the carbs and pipes off it over the summer and did the usual maintenance and buttoned it back up. I fired it up tonight for the first time in anticipation of riding it this weekend and the issue I mention in the title of the thread is full time now and showing no signs of going away. Basically what happens is this... it will fire and idle ok and even rev off idle to high rpm's no problem but when you get out of the throttle it goes into this boggy/miss/quit firing type mode until the revs come down all the way and then it will rev again but repeat the problem when I back out of it. Anybody hazard a educated guess?

With proper throttle cable adjustment when to start to press on the throttle you should have @ least a 2 mm gap between throttle and housing before carbs start to move. Quickest way to check before you mess with anything is to by pass tors (bullet style plug ins down beside carb) if it doesnt do it any more you have figured out the problem is in tors. If it still does than keep looking.

How would it activate the TOR system if it is adjusted improperly?

That goofy modern rocker pivot point in the fun flipper is there for tors. If your throttle cable is adjusted properly and you grab the back side of the throttle and stop it from sliding it will activate tors. Theres a swith at the throttle and at carbs. If either triggers it goes into "somethin aint jiving kill rpm mode"

Sorry man but that name doesn't ring a bell :| But thanks again for the advice, I'll try unplugging the TORS at the carb tomorrow and try running it.

Just my 2 cents worth . . .

I suspect that the TORS system is being activated as well. It is likely as simple as adjusting the throttle cable, very easy to do. I advise against disabling the TORS system except for testing. Runaway sleds aren't much fun for any involved, only for lookers on.

Thanks Ding, I wasn't going to leave it unplugged. And at first glance my cable doesn't seem overly tight but I will give it a good thorough look tonight. ;)!

Also thanks to everybody for not busting my chops and telling me to try the "search" function first! :flag:

I have a 99 and it does the same thing. Most of the time I never notice it. But, if I do go WOT for a few seconds or more. Once I get off the thorttle the motor will hang at about 3000 rmps and if I try to give it any throttle at the motor feels like it is bouncing off of a limiter. After a few seconds the motor will come back down to idle, and the motor will rev like normal.

Ill have to check the throttle cable. I hope that fixes it.

I had this problem with mine. As mentioned, my throttle cable was too tight. After adjusting it the problem went away.
