Misfire/Quits Running on Decel?

I have this issue but have checked my throttle a few times and it seems fine. Could a throttle cable being too loose cause it?? I bought the sled this year its a 1997 vmax 600 xt, no reverse, pull start. It runs great starts first pull, I was also wondering if the throttle assembly on the carb being gumed up could cause it?

I should mention I adjusted the throttle cable according to the actual yamaha shop manuals
