My 02 viper will always start second pull and run fine.Went for a ten min. blast around the yard and runs strong. When I try to restart it warm,it doesn't want to hear it.Full/half/off choke.I checked plugs....all dry. What should I look for next?Electrical?Fuel?Compression?

All vipers are like this when warm. Next time just crack the throttle a 1/4 and it will fire first pull. Give it a try.

Sled doesn't die out when your riding it does it? In other words, Could you run it for an hour without having problems with it? Only on restart there is a problem? Do exactly what Super said, these triples like that little throttle when starting warm. Mine is the same way....

x2 on that mine is the same. Just a little throttle when warm and it fires right up.

Woops! I was on my phone last night and had a weak signal. It must have kept posting it as it was coming in and out. LOL!

I have to give it a little throttle to but when my coils went bad it would start and run great until i tried to restart. replacing coils was my fix.

I will try that.I just don't know how I will crack throttle and pull at same time(i need both hands).I would need to have someone with me on trail if I want to shut it down,or maybe make a little wedge to stick behind throttle lever.I guess electric start is a must on these sleds? Go figure.

The wedge sounds like a real bad idea! How are you going to hold on when the sled fires up and takes off? When warm you should be able to pull it with one hand and the other on the throttle. Maybe have someone help you until you get the routine figured out, but NEVER have something hold the throttle open for you.

I understand the throttle/clutch concept.I wouldn't have pinned open to engage clutch. Thanks for the heads up anyway. I would think there has to be a way to fix this?I can see once in a while ,but I have never had a sled that would not start first pull when warm.Is this only common on Viper?I had 01 SRX and never had a problem.I would love to see someone pull a triple with good compression with one hand while cracking the throttle!Doesn't sound right to me.

Not difficult to pull over when it is warm. Even my sister can pull our viper over with one hand while giving it a little throttle. My SRX needs this once in a while too.

My SXR600 was like this and my Viper is also like this. Although once this weekend it started without giving it any throttle. If you're going to use a wedge, I'd suggest also putting a tether on the sled and wearing it while starting so if it takes off it can't go far.

Yeah... not that hard at all. use your good arm and dont be afraid to yank on it. sometimes standing on the sled and using your legs to help can be an option but i found that your bars should be turned out of the way if you dont want to accidentally snap you throttle off ( And end up stranded out to the cabin on an island ). I dont really think their is a fix because even some perfectly tuned triples have this problem.

No fix that i know of or even heard of. And ive read about every post on this site LOL!!! It does not pull hard when warm. Just the nature of the beast. I went to all e starts, not cause of this just getting lazy so no biggie now. But did it by myself all the time before that.

Guess I have one of the good Vipers. I have never had to crack the throttle when the sled is warm or hot. Always fires first or second crank hot or cold... There must be a fix..

Thanks for everyones feedback.I warmed sled up today and tried pulling with thottle cracked.I think I can get used to it.I just had new pull rope installed and it's to long.If I shorten it up a little, I think I could get to side/forward on start, making it easier to reach throttle.

If you can get used to it, just pull it with your left hand and put right hand just BARELY on throttle. Your only going to crack the lever about a 1/8-1/4" is all it takes, as soon as engine hits, hits let go.
