What do you guys think is the fastest (all out top speed) and quickest (hardest accelerating in let's say a 1/4 mile) snowmobile ever produced (2 stroke or 4 stroke) from any of the four major manufacturers?
Here are my picks:
Yamaha: Fastest: 1995 V-max-4 800 Quickest: 2001 SRX 700
Ski Doo: Fastest: 2005 Mach Z 1000 Quickest: 2008 MXZ XP 800
Arctic Cat: Fastest: 1998 Thundercat 1000 Quickest: 2003 F7
Polaris: Fastest: 2003 XCR 800 Quickest: 2006 Fusion 900

In a quarter mile the Mach and the Thundercat will be long gone from an XP or an F7. Fastest and quickest would be a toss up between the 98 Thundercat and the 1000 Mach. The slight edge might go to the Thundercat. My Mach would run 124 on the gun and the my friends Thundercat would hit 125. The best his 97 Mach 809 would run was 120 and that was with a couple mods, head cut, and VForce, but it took a long time to get there.

at those speeds it could be a matter of going on a diet and loosing a couple pounds or cutting off you long flowing hair. id say their pretty much equal

Thanks for the correction guys, and I guess a 1/4 mile race is a bit more top end related then what I should have posted. Maybe a 660 ft. would be a more accurate display of true low to mid acceleration. In that case the F7 still can't compete?
don't tell that to arctic guys those F7 move pretty good in the long run alsoLaPorte429 said:Thanks for the correction guys, and I guess a 1/4 mile race is a bit more top end related then what I should have posted. Well 660' kind of changes things.
Ski Doo top end. 2005 Mach Z 660' 2012 Etech 800
Yamaha top end 1996 V-Max 4 660' 2001 SRX 700
Polaris Top end 2003 XCR 800 660' 2012 Rush 800
Arctic Cat Top end 1998 Thundercat 1000 660' Maybe the 2003 F7
Cat has made a lot of fast sleds though CFR 1000,CFR 800 and the turbo 1100 would be in the mix too.

Nice, yeah those Etech 800's can really move out of the hole! Cat is making some extremely fast sleds currently. How reliable is that Z1 Turbo, I heard on the radio it has been breaking records for top speed at 177 HP? Holy.

Laporte429 I like your choices except with the SkiDoo, The 98 Mach hit 107 at the Shoot out just 1 MPH behind the Thundercat. The 05-07 Mach's are dogs. I am trying to sell mine, they are laughed at in my area, worst sled I have ever owned. Any year triple Mach will smoke these twin turds.

You must have a real turd then. Some were slow and some were real fast. The one I had for the past couple years was a rocket.124 mph on the gun for a stock sled is real fast. Even piped and ported Mach Z triples could not run with me. It took a real good running 1998 Thundercat to hang with my 1000 Mach. Any other year I could beat pretty easy. But I only had one other Mach Z 1000 run near me. I did sell it because I was scared to ride it. I read too many horror stories about the motors blowing. And they are HUGE money to fix them. It just wasn't worth keeping.

I have riden others and talked to a lot of people that have had these sleds and anyone that I have spoken to or see have said that they are all hype. Even dealers just laugh when you mention them. If you had a good then you were one in a million.Any and all I have seen will NOT run with the triples, I know I had two 800 triples and they were a lot better sled then these. I have friends and I have seen with my own eyes triples beat up on these all the time. If you sold yours you are lucky as no one wants these things and are very hard to sell.
