Primary clutch puller

Put a Polaris P-85 primary on my SXr, parts are much cheaper. Anyway what puller do I need ? The Yamaha puller is way loose on the threads and I am afraid the threads will pull out. Friend has a monster long puller for his 440 XCSP, that seems a little long? Clutch is off a 2005.

I would think a poo puller. What spring and weights are you running? I tried gold 100/275 with 49gs52gs,54gs.(over reving/just wrong) Now I'm gonna try almond/gold sping 150/290 and 10/62s. Should give 4300/4700 and top of 7600 7800. I wanna stay under 7900. Maybe you need to cut your buddys puller off some!

O ya I've been doing all my switching of weights, spring with clutch on the sled. ;)!

have you tried the compressed hot water method? The AC guys swear by it and since I've got 2 comet clutches between 2 different sleds I am gonna give it a go after the season ends and see if i can get the clutch to separate from the crankshaft.

The few times I've been involved with a hybrid like yours the required puller has been the one that fits the clutch, not the sled. The neighbor had a P-85 on his ZRT and my P-85 puller was needed. He nearly made it un-pullable by using a Cat puller and buggering up the threads.
 
you will also find that there are up to three different pullers for the p-85 depending on model and year. best if you knew what it came off of.

the long puller for the xc will not work, i am guessing you would want one that fit a 97 rmk 700. problem with the compressed water trick and that clutch is finding a bolt. for what a bolt would cost and be re-threaded, you can buy a puller.
 
I found a bolt for my P85 at the local hardware store, it was a common fine thread standard size. If you buy a puller make sure the end where it presses against the crankshaft is small enough to fit in the threaded hole.
 
Burrito, I am going with the gold spring and 43.5 weights. Dont know but after checking what I had for yamaha parts this should get me close to the 8800 rpm range I need. Oh SLP pipes call for 8800 rpm. Sled is a morfidyte, 141" X 2" paddle with 8 tooth drivers, SLP pipes and a balls out 300 lb college kid running it. Ye Ha !
 
I was getting 8400 with 49grams and gold spring. Wow 8800! Bbbraaaap! Good luck.
