1993 exciter bad belt squeal

Exciter has a bag squeal and is eating belts
Can someone tell me the offset and center to center distance?

The offset was way off fixed and will test later
Just running a dayco belt but no sims in converter

If you are running a new belt then you need two shims in the secondary or it will be two tight.

It has a commet 4 weight primary
If I don't take out all the shims the belts sits too low in the secondary

Would the offset be different with the comet 4 weight primary
Inner sheive on primary was so hot I could keep my fingers on it after 5 kms
To top it all off when we stopped so I could l look at the belt the new slides melted to the track clips, had to flip it on its side and pry the track off the slides

First you need to make sure you are getting enough snow to lubricate the slides. The drag that melting hifax creates can easily be enough to slip the belt creating more clutch heat.
I'm not sure on the offset. You can take a thin straight edge and go from the stationary sheave on the primary to the inside of the stationary sheave of the secondary.
