Does anyone know what would cause my 97 vmax 500 burn so much oil? I changed the oil pump and set it up, any ideas.

If it uses lots of gas as well than its spot on! How much is lots? Is cable adjusted per tech pages? I have heard alot of guys having alot of problems fine tunning with aftermarket cables.

The twin cylinder yamaha's use a lot more oil and gas than the triples. As long as your gas to oil ratio is about 50:1 then it is ok. If it's using more then your adjustment must be off if the pump is new. Also remember the 500 adjustment is different then the triples, it uses marks on the pump arm and not the in-line separation.
