need help quick with skid to tunnel bolts seized in shafts

buddy needs help quick with skid to tunnel bolts seized in shafts

just studded his 97 (vmax?) 600 twin tonight.
Hw was then getting to the tunnel protectors and cannot get one bolt out from one shaft, and another bolt from the second shaft.

I told him to retighten the opposite side. He tried that... and bolts just seem to be galled/seized.

any suggestions.
anyone try heat?


or anyone have some shafts from parting out if we cugoff the bolts.

they have locktite on them from the factory, best way is to use a air impact gun, they will come right out, or heat them up some and they will come out.

I just loaded up my impact wrench (and right angle grinder if itcomes to that)

It is my sled he is talking about here.

Understand, we got the bolts out the first time... figured we were biting off more than we could chew without some one around with more knowledge of Yamaha suspension (like Rambunctious) so we tried to put them back in. I now have one siezed bolt in two different shafts. Looks to me (since we tried everything else) like they will have to be cut off, and the shafts replaced. So, anyone have a couple of shafts (axles?? or whatever you call them) laying around they might be willing to ship ASAP??? IF now, what will these cost me at the dealer???

are you sure they are seized? the bolt and shafts may just be spinning together. clamp a pair of vice grips on the aluminum shaft and try it again. every time I take out my skid I do this.
 
Did you cross thread them when you put them back in? Or did you use lock-tite? The red stuff you have to heat to break the bond usually. Blue is much better.

Internet pricing but good for estimating. That's for a 97 Vmax 600 xt. Should be the same/similar for other models.
 
It's a 97 600 XTC and yes, they are siezed. Been working on "stuff" for a long time, boats, trucks, cars, etc... trust me, these are cross threaded and siezed.
