My dad and i went on a ride last saturday. Got some snow today so we hit the lake. Went to start his vmax and the electric start wasnt working. The week before it was fine. Any ideas guys?? The battery in its not even a year old so i dont think its the battery but i am going to put in on the charger tonight to make sure. Checked the fuses and they were all fine. Could be a lose connection somewhere??? Thanks

Put a screwdriver across the cylinoid (sp) posts at the relay. This will jump the starter and tell you if the battery is good and the starter, starter relay is good. Then you can backtrack from their. Sure you got all the fuses checked?

I will check again but all of the fuses were good. I will have to see if the cylinoid is bad. Thanks.

So the starter engaged when you put a screwdriver across the posts? If so then your problem lies between the ignition and the relay. Are all connections good? Can you check the resistance of your leads from ignition to relay?

Do you mean the starter is not firing? Does it click or hum?
It does nothing. The thing that is above the battery has power to it which goes to the starter when the key is turned on. Idk maybe a bad relay?? My dad and I are going to check it out more tomorrow.

Got the old girl fixed today. :) Found that the ground broke off the engine block. Fixed the wire and bolted it back on. Good as new ;)! Since we had the exhaust off we drilled the can. Sounds like it has an aftermarket can now.
