Hey guys! Long time lurker, first time poster here.
I've got a '95 Vmax 500 that I've been having some problems with. When the skid is in the sled, it seems like the rear arms that are connected to the rear shock want to fall towards the rear and rub on the idler wheel (see picture #2). Or they'll fall forward and the shock/support arms will land on the pivot shaft for the front arm (see picture #3).
I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening, could I just be installing it incorrectly? I went out today and the arms fell backwards completely chewing up rear idler as you can see in the picture.
Thanks for any info or help, I appreciate it!

The suspension will when outside and not bolted to the tunnel fall forward or rear ward. I have to wonder if the middle rear idler was chewed up by a stud ?

- Rear Suspension Shocks
Search all the following sleds had the original Pro-Action Rear Suspension.
1983 to 1991 SRV 540

1992 to 1997 Vmax 750/800 with the exception of the 97 XT models
1994-1996 Vmax 5/600 with the exception of the 96 XT models

I did just put drop brackets on the sled, could that possibly have caused the damage to the wheel? I don't have studs. While I was out I saw that the suspension had dropped backwards and was resting on the wheel.

With the drop brackets is the rear mount hole the same C. to C. distance from the drive axle ?

I don't think so, since the brackets run perpendicular to the running boards.

Changing the geometry from how the suspension was designed to work will make the suspension very stiff or very loose ?

I got it figured out! I ended up re-drilling the holes in the drop brackets to help keep the same distance between the front and rear mounting points. Now everything is working as it should!
Thanks!
Thanks!
