wow what a nice day for riding. The River has around 6 to 8 inch's of fresh powder..The SXR600 is just purring today..one strong motor.I kept her pinned to the bar for about 3 miles on the River,it is smooth like glass and was doing 130 k/h constant and revving 8600.Clutch's are cool to the touch and just love that triple....BULLET PROOF!!
Some pics from my hand held, wish I had the GoPro today...sucking some gas as well..but hey got to take advantage of this snow..season is almost done...it is -14 C today as well and sled is running perfect..

well this day is done for me and what a day it turned out to be..not what I was thinking for my afternoon ride..lol
Headed back to the River and going along a ditch leading to the Bridge and decided to cut across the ditch in a long run.Got my speed going and started to hit the snow..I knew it would be soft but not this soft.Well about half way across it and the sled stated to slow down and I said "OH OH!!!!"Then all of a sudden the back end starts to dig down,I basically bailed the sled and hung on to the throttle to get weight off..but finally it stopped and I friggin got her sunk down nearly four feet and ski's pointing up.HOLY CRAP the next 1.5 hours becomes no fun.Had a little shovel with me,but sure wished it was bigger..lol
A couple people stopped on the roadway but there was no way they could help..at least they checked to see if I was ok.Started to dig slowly since it about 1pm..figuered I have at least 6 to 7 hours before night hits.Cleared a path and all the snoe under sled..thried for a run and moved ahead about 4 feet and back to where I was again. The snow ahead of the sled was about waist deep....:o|So I dug some more around and up front, pulled the sled back down and took another shot..I was getting no where.:o|

Finally 2 Ski-doos pull up,the father in one sled and his 2 kids on the other. They told me the owner of the Gas Station went by and saw me and let him know to go and help me.Thought that was cool. There proceded to move and tramp snow ahead of my 600 as I still shoveled a little more away from under it.Another guy pulled up with his Doo and helped a few minutes andwe pulled my sled back as far as it would go and I gave her.Started climbing out but almost dug down again 15 feet ahead..had her pinned to the bar..thought for sure motor was gonna blow. Finally it was out, thanked the guy..took some pics from the back of the sled when I was in the hole and a few pics of him and his kids in the hole..
What a wasted 1.5 hours.Proceeded down the River heading North for 7 miles and then I see another sled in trouble along the River Bank.It was a Polaris. The guy was climbing the River bank, but couldn't see under the snow it was a straight up 5 foot wall of dirt ,he hit it..it bounced him to the right sideways and track in the air and hood down in the snow and he couldn't move it.So I stopped and helped him turn the sled and aim it down..he felt stupid I think..so today a Doo guy helps me and Me the Yami guys helps a Polaris guy..wow what a day..lol..Anyways I am home.
Get in the yard and my motor doesn't sound right, like only 2 cylinders firing..I think ÖH OH"again..did I blow a piston. It did not sound good, tried different plug in the PTO cyl as it sounded like the one and nothing..Now took compression tester and all cylinders were good..127/130/129..I was happy.Thinking it nay be plug caps now, seen the mag wire had some frays or cracks on it.Got the caps from my SRX that I replaced with new ones last year.Cut all 3 wire clean and put them on,put 3 new plugs in as well. Now it really wasn't firing..After 8 pull s it did finally. The engine sounded good again..so don't know what the deal was.Fired it up may times to be sure and notice it is harder to start since I put the 3 SRX plug boots on.It will start,,just takes more pulls.Even with engine warm I have to pull it harder to get going.NOW are the SRX plug boot causing this??Is there a difference between the SXR and SRX boots..something funny here..but at least it runs.Probably tomorrow it will take more then 1 pull to start something tells me.
Sorry for the long story here but this damn 600 triple is 1 tough motor after all it was thru today. The snow was deep and sled was just purring the surface..I am not planning on getting this stuck EVER AGAIN!!>.:o|#$%&*

PICS: lmao now..and no Heart Attack from all that digging..

Bluemonster2..where the hell were ya when I needed you the most....:dunno:

gonna go out again tomorrow and put on more mile that I lost out on today because of my mishap..lol I am staying away from that friggin ditch for sure:o|

Oh the fun one can have when sledding along ...carry a bigger shovel is all I am saying...lol

LOL!!! Thats one heck of a "stuck" picture!

On the plug boots...

I have a TY friend "Trail Animal" that has a very high mileage 1998 SRX. His plug boots were worn from many miles and deteriating badly. He switched to the 2002 SRX style plug boots and he now has developed a hard starting issue...we were just talking about this and he speculates its the new plug boots...

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm

Bob

crazy or what..every time you go hmmmm! there is a sideshowbob investigation that will take place.Something else you can test out for us and see what you find..it never ends bob,,never!!!
I stayed calm throughout the whole ordeal today..blood pressure was down, things went as good as can be expected ...thanks to thoughtful people out there for sure..but tell you the truth..I don't think any Arctic Cat riders would of stopped to help.I am in AC territory hear..there is a dealer not far from here in the next small town..sad but true.

Wish I had a pic of that Polaris guy who tried to go up the River bank and hit a solid vertical wall of frozen earth and bounced off that sideways and upside down..it was priceless...lol

check out the SRX plug boots will ya.I tried starting the 600 up tonight in the garage and it fired on second pull..so seems ok..will let you know tomorrow if I had to walk home 10 miles because of them..lol :o|

Bob..out on 70 km's so far on my 600 with them SXR plug boots.Sled started on second pull..BUT..guess what.I stopped for a break and friggin motor wouldný start.Usually when the motor is warm..give it a slight touch of throttle and starts in 1/2 pull..not this time.Thought I was gonna be walking home.Tried choke and it popped a bit and no go ..finally had to hold throttle to the bar and pull it over a few times and it fired. Then I came home for lunch.Shut it off in front of garage,Tried starting it back up..no go!! WTF is happening..why are the SRX caps doing.Going to hop on the SRX for the rest of the day...stumped here what is happening...sled ran great for all them 70 km's also..pulling 8500 rpm's..

sticky snow, paddle track, and new belt= wheelies! yeah! 40cm coming tomorrow to!!............................WOW! didnt let me upload pics cause file was to big!

If we had 40 cm's,I wouldn't be going out..My sleds can barely run in 10 to 15 cm.s.Got stuck the other day, don't want that again.

Maybe its time to get a Mtn Max or Mtn Viper in the stable Blue... then you wouldn't be left sitting at home when you do get 40cm.
And it would save you a lot of shovelling the next time you decide to play in the deep stuff!
:Moon:

we never get that kind of snow here anyways.Sleds are all getting old now.Don't know how much longer I will use them.I will not be looking into another sled because have dumped to much into my 2 sleds in the last 5 years.Sledding is just to expensive now,it is crazy how much gas I use just for a few hours of riding..don't have the money to throw around like I used to..maybe I will pu one of them 120 SRX's...that will save me on fuel and after all it is an SRX..top speed 8mph....;)!

by 7 tooth drivers and put a 2" lug backcountry track and powder skis on. most fun youl ever have on a sled. had mine on the back bumper today and broke my rear light lol. my 13" of rise might of helped to but i need it being 6'2" if you seen my vids i make the the ol yammy look like a kids toy lol. just hit 19500km on original engine today by the way!

end of storm pic. found a mound of snow with handlebars on my lawn. some drifts are atleast 8ft high and its just a blast going down the trails only touching the ground a scatter time lol

WOW Blue!! Those are some crazy stuck pics!! Glad you made it out w/o a heart attack! Sure weird about the plug caps!
yeah I switched back to the SXR plugs now and everything works, starts really easy also.On one of my wires there were some cuts and such, thought maybe spark could be grounding out thru there to something.Just snipped off 2 inches from that wire,,lucky the mag wire is longer or more in line to do so.Couldn't do that with the other two, they would end up to short.
Ran the sled outside until everything was warm,up on stand gave it a few 6000-6500 rpm snaps just to listen to the motor and she sounds normal all just like it should sound and not missing..
PS: them 02 plug caps from the SRX are weird..but there would work on the SRX..maybe something to do with the resistor in there.....

Sounds like its flooding when sitting a while. Carb seat leaking or equivalent.

As for the drifts I can get 6ft drifts on a roadway to the trail which has bushes on both side and collects a lot of snow. Two machines swallowed into it twice 3 hours at least getting out. The sled digs and falls into a hole in seconds with 3ft of snow above the sled and when I step off I am in another foot and a half with the track loaded with snow. Two of us could hardly move it. A lot of digging, yanking, moving little by little and the only way was to turn it over time and get it going back and into a field to get around.

But alas, this year its all GRASS and 12 Celius on Wed this week. There goes winter without a ride.

tomorrow is my last good day, going to be -8C..Then Friday thru weekend warms up to around Plus 3 C..Then next Thursday looks like getting to 16 C above..its done/over with then...:o| just when I started some real sledding,March has to warm up to quick.A lot of snow melted down today also...
