Hello, I would like to thank everyone at this board for there great help and Info. I have a 2000 Yamaha Sxr 700 and It calls for a 8DN belt. I have a brand New 8CH belt that I put on the sled it works great except that it squeals at idle and it wants to move the track at Idle. If I have it on a stand it will move the track and when I put it down you can tell its bogging the motor down alittle. Is there a way to adjust it or something to make it work with this belt Thank you very much Bobby

from what I've been told primary needs to be shimmed differently for 8ch. I'm not sure how, I've looked at the part numbers for the clutch on a machine that uses the 8ch and they all appear the same as one using the 8dn. but when looking for some drag racing info I was told to use a 8ch with the primary set to run that belt. I'll try o get some better info on this and post as I'm going to be setting up this clutch soon anyways.

I did some digging through some old PMs and it appears the changing of the primary was to achieve overdrive and allow to gear lower and still achieve the same mph. guess it had nothing to do with the belt. my bad.

Not sure about switching to a different belt, but its possible you could adjust your deflection to get it to work. How many washers are on the 3 bolts on the back of the secondary. May be possible to remove washers (if any present) to get the deflection where it needs to be. Also you might want to check the bolts out the ends will wear down after time. Some ideas for you to try.

If it was brand spankin new, did you wash it with soap & water and some scotchbrite?xlimited said:it squeals at idle
remove the three 10mm bolt on the back face of the secondary and remove (1) of the (3) washers on each one and then re-install. This will push the secondary sheeves apart farther allowing the belt to drop down into the clutch further. If an 8CH is actually shorter than an 8DN this will help. Once you have this done, check to see where the top of the belt is as compared to the outside diameter of the secondary clutch. The belt should be flush to 2mm sticking out. If it is inset a millimeter or two then you may want to consider going back to the 8DN. Why did you go to the 8CH in the first place?
