All of those are great ideas and I'm sure they would all work.
However, the paranoid side of me won and I did end up pulling that cylinder and sending it back to Millennium Technology. They promptly called me up and said that the back wall (where the stud was butting up against) was thin and porous causing the leak through. They're sending me out another one. They've been real good with me and one of the the things I like about them is that they communicate with you effectively.
I would recommend them if someone ever asks.
