Today I finished my waterpump change. I did the shaft, impeller, one bearing, expensive washer, and oil seal. I now have a more accurate time estimate. Like Yammy says there was no need to lift the engine.
Remove exhaust including y pipe. Half hour
Drain coolant, remove cover and impeller Half hour
Dig out mechanical seal and oil seal.
My shaft was worn
Remove circlip
Pull shaft out Half hour
Put it all back together Half hour
Look for wrenches you just had a half hour ago Half hour
Total about two hours Like yammy said.
New antifreeze goes in tomorrow after loctite dries.
I think the engine needs to be taken apart to change bearing on the oil pump end. Not sure. Not at this time.
